Rest Easy Bumpkin
2019. Wood, soil, corn, stock tank, conveyor belt, hardware, paint. 5’5” x 14’ x 10’. North Bennington, VT.
In an attempt to gain a new perspective on a crop that is an omnipresent symbol of rural life, Rest Easy Bumpkin creates an intimate moment between an individual and a plant that is everywhere but often overlooked.
Strips of used conveyor belt that I took from my family farm are secured to a stock tank and create a hammock for the viewer. The soil and base of the corn stalks align with the viewer’s eye line.
